I began Mena Dragonfly in Vancouver, BC in 2010. I turned my hobby into my business. Soon after that I moved to southern Ontario & opened my own studio & retail space. Then in 2025 I realized a childhood dream & now the Mena Dragonfly studio is located in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

At a very young age my Uncle Bill often found me in mud puddles, making mud pies so he gave me the nickname Mud & I sometimes wonder if he might have inadvertently set the course of my life.

While I was in high school my Art teacher Mr. Flannigan said, “I bet you’d enjoy making pottery on the wheel.”

And he was right. I love making pottery. Since 2010 I have made thousands of mugs, hundreds of vases & countless mini bowls.

In 2023 while healing from a broken wrist I decided to explore one of my other loves – paper goods. I’m truly an analog person, I tend to write things down over typing (& preferably with my favourite pen). So I designed a series of notebooks & notepads that I’d been dreaming of for years & then Paper Mena was created.
